Whole-person development and proper moral values are emphasized among students. Students are expected to develop their talents to the fullest. They will become citizens with integrity and dedication no matter whether they are studying in our school or working in the future.
The effectiveness of the disciplinary work bears witness to the collaborative work between school, parents and teachers. Through the implementation of the Whole School Approach, we have set up impartial school rules and disciplinary strategies so that all teachers can work together effectively when dealing with disciplinary problems in school. We also include parents as our close partners. Our strong liaison with the police force facilitates a prompt communication network and enables effective handling of behavioural problems. We believe that punishing students may not help them rectify their problems, but working closely with other supporting departments may help them improve their behaviour.
Prevention is more effective than cure. As the saying implies, punishment should not be the sole way to rectify students’ behavioural problems. Instead, preventative and reconstructive approaches should be adopted. Therefore, we hold regular joint meetings with the Guidance Unit, Academic Unit, class teachers and social workers to strengthen collaboration and draw up preventative measures. Coordinators from each form are assigned to assist class teachers in rectifying students’ behavioural lapses and conduct assessment. Our team has been working very closely with class teachers, social workers and guidance teachers so that support can be offered effectively.

In such an ever-changing society, we are nurturing future leaders who are proactive as well as adept in communication and collaboration. The setting up of the prefect team aims at preparing future leaders for society who are confident and capable enough to shoulder the responsibilities of developing our society. In school, we help them develop into role model Makopanians; they assist teachers in maintaining campus order, thus strengthening students’ autonomy. This year we extended the team to include S1 leaders training.
In recent years, we have determined to reinforce the training of prefects to reach optimum quality. Through carrying out daily duties and participating in various training programs, they are better equipped with self-confidence, team spirit, interpersonal communication and independent thinking skills.
